Week 22

My husband said something really funny this week. Over dinner one night he turned to me and said, " So what do you plan on doing all day while you're home with the baby?" I slowly looked up at him with a very puzzled look on my face..."Every mother in America would pop you for saying that!", I responded. In a very serious tone, he replied "I just thought it would be a good time for you to do some projects around the house like paint the furniture in the guest room." I just had to laugh hysterically. I explained that his mother and I just recently had the conversation about how being a stay-at-home mother is not like playing house! I get the feeling that this is a huge misconception among men...paint the furniture..yeah right!!
I bought a bikini to wear for the remainder of the pregnancy. I decided the few I was trying to squeeze into just weren't that comfortable. I chose a black Mossimo bikini from Target. I figured black was slenderizing:) The bottoms are an XL...perfect for my XL tush! I laid out today and got a nice little burn. You can see how red my belly is. I'm sure Porter enjoyed being in the sun as much as I did. My friend's husband husband isn't happy about her laying out all summer. He found something on the Internet that linked learning disabilities to mommies who laid in the sun. I hope that isn't true because my only plan this summer is to read on the beach!

Week 21

Tim finally felt the baby kick! It happened twice this week. I was so excited for him. I think he thought it was a little strange. He still can't wrap his mind around the fact that a human is inside of me! We got the primer finished on the baby room. Next week, hopefully, we'll finish painting the color and begin setting up the furniture. Speaking of furniture, I found a awesome deal on a glider/rocker. I went to MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) consignment sale on Saturday and found it for $50. They are regularly $170ish. All I have to do is change the fabric. The previous owner reupholstered it and it looks crappy up close. If Sally is reading this, maybe she knows someone who can do it:) I'm not sure what fabric to choose for the chair. I could use the same pink/polka dotted fabric we're using for the crib set and window treatments...or choose a more gender neutral fabric in case baby #2 is a boy. Oh, I bought Porter her first hair bow. I also bought a hair bow holder that hangs on the wall. Of course, both are pink!

Week 20

Well, I'm at the half way point now! Not too much happened this week. I had my check up appointment and got to listen to her heartbeat. That's always my favorite next to the ultrasound. I've gained roughly 22 pounds. I don't think that's too bad and the nurse wasn't concerned. The weather is turning nicer this week so I intend to walk the loop after work. I walked today in 64 degree weather and it was wonderful. I had a couple of "firsts" this week. On Tuesday, while shopping in Dragonfly's (my new favorite store after Crabby Chic!), I had a full bladder and Porter started kicking it. That was a very strange feeling. I went from "full bladder" to "intense need to pee" and that cycle continued to repeat itself until I made it to bathroom. I also think I felt a "squirm" or "roll" a couple of days this week but its still hard to tell. Unlike her kicking, there's no mistaking that! I started priming the baby room today. I was by myself while Tim was moving a boat. I almost got finished with one wall and something made me look at the paint can. I was shocked to see it say..."and contains a chemical that causes birth defects". I threw my roller down and walked outside. No more priming for me. A twinge of guilt came over me for not considering reading the can first. I'm sure I didn't inhale too many fumes since I wasn't in there very long. I guess someone else will have to finish painting!
